ASAP Media Services Work Experience

I worked at ASAP Media Services from January 2015 to May 2015.

ASAP Media Services is a UMaine student-operated research and development company. ASAP is where a really learned how to code websites. It gave me the opportunity and motivation to learn skills like css, html, and javascript on my own, and puts those skills to work with real clients.

One of my first projects was redesigning the ASAP website. This version didn’t end being used, but it was a learning experience for me. I experimented a lot with CSS3 to create a website that was dynamic and interactive within WordPress.

Over the summer of 2015 I worked with a team at ASAP to design the UMaine Systems IT Services website, which would consolidate all the UMaine campuses. I learned a lot about making websites responsive.

Fall of 2016, I worked with another team at ASAP on a website for the company Emera. It is made for creating assignments for employees to view on an app other team members had made, and for viewing reports those employees make.

While employed with ASAP, I also worked with a New Media introduction to programming class as an assistant TA. I worked with Processing and Arduino and helped students in their lab, and in a once a week “open hours” session at the ASAP office.

In May of 2016, I organized and ran a wearable workshop for a 4-H event at Umaine. I worked with middle school students, teaching an introduction to coding and microcontrollers.
